To continue our chat conversation on Crimson Peak, I went back and looked at my review, entitled "I Really Like Crimson Peak!"

Love the feel and visuals of the movie. Were there holes? Sure. But it was really good to me. It's a world I want to be in.

I appreciated the in-depth, observant review, and had no idea there was so much chatter about the film being a disappointment to modern audiences expecting gore and non-stop jump scares. Now that we have a highly successful film like "Midsommar," perhaps we don't have to worry any longer that audiences aren't ready for slow burns. I, too, love the feel and visuals of "Crimson Peak." Its flaws don't bother me much, as there are few horror movies that are perfect--"Psycho" and the original "The Haunting," both of which I love, included.

Thought I had posted it here but I guess I didn't. My Gothic Romance video review includes Crimson Peak and Only Lovers Left Alive. Glad you liked my written review Obergh! I think the mismarketing really hurt Crimson Peak more than anything.
